Rembrandt

Rembrandt is one of the world’s most famous artists, praised for his refined skills in drawing and painting. He became hugely successful in Amsterdam, gaining international fame as a portrait painter. Then a series of personal tragedies struck, and his career suffered. He died impoverished and at the time of his death his reputation proved precarious. It was only in the nineteenth century that his work began to be fully appreciated. Today, Rembrandt is recognized as one of the great masters.
